Lidingö Basket Cup was launched in 2025 with the ambition of becoming one of Sweden’s best-organized youth basketball tournaments. Our focus has been on creating a tournament where teams get the feeling of playing real games: full-size basketball courts, plenty of playing time, high-quality referees, committed staff, cafeterias at every venue and much more.

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT

Lidingö Basket Cup was launched in 2025 with the ambition of becoming one of the best-organised basketball tournaments. Our focus has been on creating a tournament that feels like playing proper competitive games: full-size courts, plenty of playing time, top-quality referees, dedicated staff and a café at every venue. We have received fantastic feedback from participants, particularly on the organisation, game lengths and venues. Of course, as a new tournament, we have also faced some challenges. We welcome all feedback and are committed to continually improving and developing the tournament for future editions.

We have grown over our first two years, and for the 2027 edition, we have added venues across the Lidingö Bridge, giving us access to more excellent full-size courts and allowing us to introduce two additional divisions. This year, we are also moving away from traditional tournament packages and introducing meal passes, available to all teams, whether they are based in Stockholm or travelling from further afield. For accommodation, we offer several affordable hotel options on Lidingö. Together, these options provide a lower total cost per person than traditional tournament packages, while offering a little extra comfort: hotel beds, hotel breakfasts and individually packed lunches and dinners served in the dining hall at Hersby Gymnasium.

Our hope is that Lidingö Basket Cup will become a regular fixture in every youth team’s calendar — a tournament where teams can enjoy proper games, with four 8-minute quarters played with stopped-clock timing, good referees, plenty of spectators and a great atmosphere.
